Marriage Licenses issued increases 9%

The Monroe County Clerk of the Court's office announced today there were 182 marriage licenses issued in Monroe County in January of 2010, the number issued in the same month of 2009 was 169, representing an increase of 9%.  All of the Keys are included in these figures, not just Key West.  This is a good sign for the new year, since last year the Keys witnessed a decline of 22% for the whole year compared to 2008.  Thanks to Jackie Clynes of the Clerk's Office for providing these numbers.

Key West Wedding Marketplace Announced at Mangoe's

The Key West Wedding Fest will be a marketplace where Key West wedding vendors and brides planning weddings can meet, discuss services and make deals.  Simple as that.  The Wedding Fest was conceived by Michael Vernon of Conch Concierge and designed to promote and grow the local wedding and event business for all. There is a need for easier communication and planning for couples planning a destination wedding in Key West. Most vendors in this business don't have offices, for the most part they work from home.  For those that do have offices, they are scattered throughout town, making if difficult for couples to meet and interview those providing the services they need.  Leaving little time to enjoy everything Key West has to offer visitors.  This will help both bride and vendor.  By showcasing many vendors in one location, brides can more easily compare services and decide which suit her best.  For vendors, this will be the first time so many potential customers can be reached in a very festive atmosphere.

The first Key West Wedding Fest will be Friday, May 21, 2010 from 9am to 3pm.  Subsequent showcases are scheduled this year for July 2, October 8, November 19. Followed by January 28 and February 25 in 2011. The months of August, September and December are omitted because these months tend to be slow times in Key West.
